Bruce Guss, owner of Housewright, Inc. has been a familiar face around Blue Ridge Builders Supply for 24 years. Not only is he a faithful customer to us, but he also helps us operate our stair shop where we offer our customers special order, custom-built stair parts such as posts, railings, balusters, and more. (Looking for this service? Contact us here for more information about our stair shop.) We talked to Bruce to get a feel for what his contracting work with Housewright, Inc. is all about as well as what it’s like to be a customer of BRBS.
“”Blue Ridge Builders Supply has always given me great customer service,” he said. ““They help with specifying and procuring materials I need. Blue Ridge is all about selecting and selling most any materials you need for your home and property.”
Bruce’s company is located right in Crozet so he has quick, easy access to BRBS whenever he needs to get here to pick up anything from a small tool to a truckload of materials.
“The owners and employees and the proximity to my business,” he explained.
Housewright, Inc. is a very multi-faceted business, but focuses mostly on building. Bruce let us know a bit more detail about what Housewright is all about.
“Housewright is a home building and renovation company. We also do millwork and stair-building,” he clarified. “If you want something one-of-a-kind, we can make it for you!”
“I also own my own sawmill and produce a lot of the wood we use in our projects,” he noted–something he said many people don’t know about Housewright, Inc.
In the stair shop, Bruce helps us custom-make parts for our customers who need specific pieces for their homes. From balusters, to railings, to newels, Bruce essentially does it all.
But as any business owner does, Bruce has his favorite jobs to work on that fulfill his visions.
He happily noted, “I like to do unique renovations, one-of-a-kind millwork and woodwork, and historic replications the most.”
Outside of working with Housewright, Inc. Bruce has many unique hobbies he enjoys.
“I enjoy motorcycle racing, bee-keeping, and maple syrup production,” he told us.
When it comes to BRBS, Bruce considers us his main outlet for materials on his jobs. He explained that he loves using Benjamin Moore paint, Marvin windows and doors, and lumber that is stored under roof at Blue Ridge. Ultimately, we consider Bruce a friend these days. We’re sure you would too, if you ever met him!
